About the Author
Barnali Dutta
Food storyteller, Bengali culinary archivist, and cultural content creator.
I write about Bengali food as memory, culture, and lived tradition — not only as recipes.
My Story
I grew up in a home where food was closely tied to conversation, memory, and culture. Meals were not simply prepared and served; they were discussed, remembered, and linked to stories, seasons, and older ways of living.
That experience shaped how I see food today. This blog is my attempt to preserve that world in digital form.
What I Do
- Document traditional Bengali recipes and regional dishes
- Write about festival and ritual foods
- Preserve seasonal ingredient knowledge
- Explore Ayurvedic food traditions and health connections
- Share kitchen memories and cultural narratives
Each post aims to connect food with time, place, and people.
My Approach
I believe food should be local, seasonal, and meaningful. Traditional Bengali cuisine carries a natural food logic — balancing bitter, sour, pungent, sweet, fresh, and fermented elements in a way that reflects both culture and health.
I try to present this knowledge in a simple, modern, and readable way without losing its depth.
Why This Work Matters
Many traditional recipes, ingredients, and kitchen practices are slowly disappearing from everyday life. By documenting them carefully, I hope to preserve a part of Bengali heritage and make it easier for future generations to reconnect with their roots.
